It’s that magical time of year again—when rolls of tape vanish faster than cookies at a bake sale and the Kidzz Helping Kidzz crew kicks off our annual Holiday Toy Drive!

We’re beyond thrilled to have such an incredible group of young leaders on our Kidzz Helping Kidzz Advisory Board this year. These kids are unstoppable—like pint-sized civic superheroes armed with markers, scissors, and boundless energy.

A massive shout-out to our friends at WaFd Bank, who kicked off the Christmas season with a generous $2,000 toy donation! WaFd has been cheering us on for years—last year, their team even helped us pack a 26-foot U-Haul full of toys.

Our Operation Box Bonanza Local Charity Event

Our Holiday Toy Drive is off to a flying start! The advisory board has been hard at work wrapping, labeling, and decorating our new unwrapped toy collection boxes. “Hard at work” might be an understatement—we’re talking 130 boxes, miles of tape, and enough glitter to make a craft store jealous.

Each box got its own poster, logo, and artistic flair. When you see one in your local coffee shop, clinic, or grocery store—know that it was handcrafted by youth volunteer who probably still have tape stuck to their elbows.

Toy Delivery Heroes Doing Local Volunteer Work

Thankfully, we had an army of volunteer opportunity ready to help deliver those 130 boxes to their new homes. Each route was a grand adventure!

Rhandel and 10-year-old Noah Darner took charge of the church route. Noah set a new speed record for box toy delivery—motivated entirely by trying not to get drenched in the rain.

Tia and Tony Picini handled the North Kitsap route like pros. Fewer boxes, more driving, and zero complaints—they handled the route with the kind of calm usually found in seasoned road-trippers.

Rhiannon Neal and Cadence Chacon, from the Junior Enlisted Association, conquered the Silverdale route, aka “Box Central,” delivering with military precision.

Jen and Adam Wiren, our U-Haul veterans, took on our longest route this year, covering Bremerton and South Kitsap—a journey that took more than six hours to complete.

Jen’s door-knocking persistence is a big reason we gained so many new collection sites this year.

Serving Every Child Hospital Patient

Thanks to charity toy donation that arrived throughout the year, our Kidzz Helping Kidzz Advisory Board jumped right into sorting, labeling, and boxing toys at our warehouse—generously provided by St. Michael Medical Center.

We packed 1,951 toys, each lovingly labeled with our Kidzz Helping Kidzz logo and a special QR code. When scanned, the QR code allows a child or family to share their story about how it felt to receive the toy in the hospital. A little extra care goes a long way when you’re brightening a child in need day.

We also got a delivery from Dawn Fisher, who spends all year crocheting the most adorable stuffed animals for our toy drive. Each one is made with love, and we’re so excited to see the smiles they’ll bring to the kids who receive them.

The First Delivery: Organized Chaos at Mary Bridge

Our first hospital toy delivery of the season went to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital—they always get the early delivery because of their cutoff date.

The drop-off was, shall we say, adventurous. The hospital is under construction, so our parking situation involved a little creativity (and a lot of quick unloading). We managed to grab a quick photo of Zach with Lou Ann League, the Child Life Coordinator who’s been with us since our very first toy drive—when 6-year-old Zach delivered 259 toys.

Fast forward nine years, and Kidzz Helping Kidzz has brightened the holidays for over 53,000 children. That’s a whole lot of joy—and even more holiday spirit and nonprofit organization love.

The Big Holiday Toy Drive Delivery Day Is Nearing

Next up, we’ll be delivering toys to St. Michael Medical Center, St. Anthony Hospital, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Swedish Medical Center, and St. Francis Hospital on Monday, December 22. It’s one of our favorite days of the year—when all the hard work, kindness, and community spirit come together in one epic day of giving.

How You Can Give Back to Community

If you’re a local child (or kid at heart) who wants to join the fun—helping count, sort, or label toys—fill out the event form on our website!

We’re also offering a volunteer opportunity for a photographer and videographer to capture the magic, the laughter, and the behind-the-scenes chaos.
