Our Kidzz Helping Kidzz Advisory Board is a powerhouse of young leaders making a difference for kids in need within our community.

Each month, we spotlight one of these incredible individuals as our "Rising Star." This April, we're thrilled to recognize Makayla, a three-year Advisory Board member and dedicated junior in high school.

Kidzz Helping Kidzz Advisory Board member Makayla is April's Rising Star recognition recipient.

Makayla's problem-solving skills, work ethic, love of music, and passion for reading make her an invaluable "voice of reason" for our team.  Thank you, Makayla, for your inspiring commitment to serving others!

Kids Helping Kids Tackle Hunger in Bremerton and Silverdale

One of the most pressing issues our Advisory Board wants to address is food insecurity among youth.

Inspired by the success of our annual Christmas toy drives, we organized our first-ever community food drive in Kitsap County! Our goal was to collect enough non-perishable food to support at least 500 local families in need.

Kidzz Helping Kidzz food drive raised over 2000 non-perishable food donations for their food drive.

We kicked off the drive by partnering with the Bremerton Backpack Brigade, the Society of St Vincent de Paul, and the Hope Worldwide Scouts.

Together, we created over 30 food donation collection boxes and placed them in businesses, schools, and churches throughout Bremerton and Silverdale. We are so grateful to the businesses who hosted boxes!

Kitsap County Community Shows Incredible Support

The outpouring of generosity from our Kitsap County community was heartwarming!

Your donations are a testament to the kindness that exists here. We're so thankful for everyone who contributed to our food drive.

Food Drive Success: Making a Difference Against Childhood Hunger

Our first Kidzz Helping Kidzz food drive was a resounding success!

Many of our collection boxes filled up quickly. We specifically collected the types of food requested by the Bremerton Backpack Brigade and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul:

  • Canned meats

  • Peanut butter

  • Breakfast cereal, oatmeal, pancake mix, muffin mix

  • Granola bars

The donations were heavy! After gathering the donations, our Advisory Board and Hope Scouts weighed, sorted, and tallied the items.

We counted 2,107 non-perishable food items weighing 2,111 pounds. That translates to 1,759 meals for families in need – a significant contribution to addressing childhood hunger and food insecurity in our community.

Thank You!

We couldn't have achieved this without the support of Kitsap County!

The next day, we delivered the food to the Bremerton Backpack Brigade and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul – helping them stock their pantries for those in need.
